RUNNING SKIRTS....................
People often ask me where I get my skirts? I actually make them I take apart my running shorts and sew them. Well that was then, this is now. I actually fond a local company that makes running skirts.
It's called Atalanta here is the web site http://www.runlikeatalanta.com
I wore this one yesterday during my 40 mile run. It has build in little shorts underneath so you can even wear it to the gym and work out, like I did today. It has two huge pockets. I carried 3 clif shots on each side and a vegan food bar and lip balm and still had room to put stuff.
I like that they are made in the USA and it's a small local company.
Girls check them out I'm sure you will like them.

So funny you mention that! I just started following your blog after seeing the blurb about you in ASJ. The other day, I showed my husband one of your posts and mentioned to him that I really liked the concept of your running skirts. I think a skirt makes total sense. Personally, I don't love running in shorts because I find them either too short (I'm modest!) or else they ride up, which just looks lame.
So short story long, thanks a ton for the well-timed lead on cute and functional running skirts!
By the way, you are a stud and have a fab attitude. You're a wonderful inspiration!
Keep smiling!
Lauren
Yeah so cute!!!!!!and sexy.....
check also Brooks website there is a beautiful and cool skirt....
love Ya

Very cool -- I like running skirts but often find them to be way too pricey and just run in shorts. Making them seems like a fun alternative.
Hey Lauren-
Thanks for the post. The thing I love about skirts is we can still look cute even when we run ;)
I think you will love atalanta skirts. The little shorts underneath don't ride up at all and it's so comfy.
I like that's it's a local company too!
Thanks so much for the kind words. Enjoy :)

Hi Ju-
I'm not into Brooks but thanks. I will stick with Atalanta since they are a local company and I really want to promote Heather's products.
XOXO,
Catra
Hey FR-
I don't think they are much more expensive then shorts.
$60 bucks for a good qulity product is worth it :)
The sports bras I have to buy now are around $40 each and I have to wear two ;( I hope you have a great day girl!
XOXO,
Catra
Catra,
Thanks for the link. I run almost always in running skirts now. I've been wearing the Nike Adventure Skirt and some from SkirtSports. I was thinking of putting together a complete list of companies that make running skirts for CompleteRunning.com so I'll add them to the list if I do that!
Catra,
Thanks for the info about the skirts! I just started following your blog and was going to ask you about your skirts. The Atalanta skirts look great - how is the sizing? Is it pretty true to their measurment charts? I find that sizes in running clothes vary drastically by brand. Thanks!
There's also other companies that make great ones with awesome colors.... www.runningskirts.com and www.skirtsports.com
I buy all mine from theses companies and they have pockets and spankies underneath also....they also make cyclegirl shorts with built in padding if your sport is cycling - transition skirts for triathlons and marathon skirts....running in skirts is the best!!
Hey Catra,
What a cool blog. I found it via Up In Alaska. I'm no runner but running in a skirt seems to make perfect sense! The country you run in looks a bit like the Scottish Highlands and even the fellas used to run around up there in Kilts, which are basically skirts. I recall doing some bush walking with a Scott years ago and he used to carry a Kilt with him especially for hiking in! It was a bit of a gimmick but he swore it was better than wearing shorts!
Catra,
What sports bra do you wear? Have you tried the Moving Comfort Maia? It's good for a substantial rack--compresses, has underwire for 2 separate boobies, has a 3-wide back hook and looks like a freaking suit of armor. But it works--no chafing, rubbing, or moving of any sort. I swear. I size it down a band size (comes in real bra sizes, cup sizes and all) and wear it with some sort of shelf bra top over it and it keeps things still. I look at other girls running by, bouncing all over the place and I swear I have to restrain myself from stopping them and telling them to get the Maia bra. It really is something.

Hey Lauren thanks for the beta. I'm going to order that one right now. Thanks again.

Yes the skirt craze is for real Nike, New Balance, Brooks and the list goes on. I think it definitely more than a passing fad. I personally like the ones from Skirt Sports and Runningskirts.com they are much more flattering, new balance is ok but boring colors, haven't tried Nikes yet, skirt power rocks. It seems like everyones making them now.
I just got my atalanta skirt delivered today - i love it! Thanks for the fashion tip - along with all the inspiration you dish out, too!
Fab legs, baby!
