MISTAKES...........
If you don’t learn from your mistakes, there’s no sense making them.

I ran 3 miles yesterday and my lower tendon on the inside of my right leg was sore. Today I ran/walked with Rocky 2 miles and it felt better.
I haven't gone to crossfit this week but have been doing a few tabata wods the last couple days.
I will start back on Monday :-) only because I am heading out of town tomorrow.
Rocky and I will head to visit Andy, in Sierra Madre ,we have a busy few days planned.
Friday we will all walk in the Sierra Madre Halloween parade that should be fun.
Saturday they have the biggest Halloween party around for dogs it's in SoCal. They have a parade and costume contest. Should be fun.
We will also go to see, Where the wild things are Saturday night.
It's been a couple months since I have been to Sierra Madre. Andy was busy and the weekends he was free I was busy. Yes it's a challenge being in a long distance relationship. We both know it won't be like this forever.
I will be down a couple times in Nov. and in Dec. and Andy will be visiting here in Dec.
We have a few races we will be running together coming up so that will be fun too.

I am so excited to be going to Sierra Madre and visiting all my friends there. That city is awesome everyone is super nice and everyone knows each other.

I'm heading to work soon today is busy I'm teaching a healthy eating class on raw foods and I also teach my get fit class today. Busy Busy Busy :-)

LOVE WHAT YOU DO...............
If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple: Know what you’re doing. Love what you’re doing. And believe in what you’re doing.
O.A. Battista
Ok so I didn't reach my goal of over 100 miles But I ran 97 miles at the SF 1 Day and several hours later after a nap and taking care of some stuff, I took Rocky out on a 3 mile run/walk to make sure I completed 100 miles. It took me 33 hours but I can add another 100 miler to my books :-)
I did it for me and no one else. Running 24 hours of flat is harder then anything else I run all year. It is the challenge that keeps me coming back.
I had stomach problems and major sleep issues. My knee was bothering me. I was a lot slower then I had planned.
My BF Andy also didn't reach his goal of 115 miles he barely made 100 miles. The funnest part of the run was spending it with him. We ended up hooking up together after I reached 40 miles I think and stayed together all the way except when I ran off and was faster for a couple hours.
we enjoy suffer together it's fun.
Thanks to everyone who sent messages that really helped. And thanks to Ron for showing up with his Family and making that awesome sign. And thanks Ron for running some miles with me. We need to get together for a run at some point. You Rock :-)
I am feeling a little trashed today so I will rest and not do crossfit like I planned. I did take Rocky out but I ran for like 10 min. and had to walk the rest of the 25 min. we were out.

DIFFERENT ROADS............
People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn't mean they’ve gotten lost.

Wish me luck as I go in circles for 24 hours and send those positive thought my way
http://www.pctrailruns.com/SF_One_Day.htm
You can follow from the link above and you can email me positive message. I would love it. :-)
These are my legs they have taken me to so many wonderful places some times they are happy and some times they get stubborn and get mad. But they still always manage to get me there one step at a time.
These legs have logged over 35,000 miles in my running life since 1996 when I took that first step out my door and told myself I am going to become a runner today,
and I did and I have never look back. There are two major accomplishments in my life one was to get clean & sober and no longer being a drug addict and alcoholic, the other becoming a runner and staying with it. I have been clean & sober for 15 years and a runner 13 years.
Everything we do in life starts with taking that first step. So go out and take that first step at something in life.

CLIMBING LESSON..........
That first peak is the best place to pause and look back, to see if you took the easiest route, to learn the lessons from the first climb. And it is the best place to examine the path ahead, to change your plans and goals, to take a deep breath and begin climbing again.
Michael Johnson
I feel a little trashed from yesterdays Crossfit class. I have SF 1 day on Saturday so decided not to go to class and do tabata abs and push-ups and I did a short easy 4 mile run. I want to do well this weekend so I must rest up :-) yeah right easy to say and harder for me to do.
The weather looks great for race day so hopefully it will go perfect for me. I have a goal of better then last year so 100+ miles and feeling great would be nice. Last year I made 100 miles but had issues with my IT band and my hamstring. I'm hoping that training on the road last week and this week will help.
I hope to see some of you out there. If not just send me positive vibes. That would be awesome.

STRONG POSITIVE ATTITUDE.........
A strong positive attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug.

Who says you need legs to keep you moving. This is my badass friend Wheelchair Bob. He doesn't let being in a wheelchair stop him. He has done the Ohlone wilderness trail, many trails on Diablo he did a 48 mile day on the Iron horse trail and even has done White Mountain peak. He has been on trails in Yosemite and all around the Bay Area. He will be even attempt a first ever wheelchair climb of Kilimanjaro next year.
So the next time you're complaining in a race or on a run remember Wheelchair Bob, that's what I do. This guy motivates me!!!
You don't need your legs just a strong mind and determination. You are amazing Bob :-)

FACE YOUR FEARS............
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face… The danger lies in refusing to face the fear, in not daring to come to grips with it… You must make yourself succeed every time. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

today I did a 30 mile run on the Alameda creek trail. It's flat and it's just what I need to get the leg turnover for SF1day next weekend. I will be running circles around Chrissy field. Should be fun.
I have been reconnecting through FB lately with a lot of old friends. I kinda disappeared 15 years ago when I got off of drugs. I left quite a few people who I really liked and were close to hanging all these years. I really did disappear. Stopped calling these people and went into hiding.
So rumors surfaced years later...I was totally normal and running marathons.
hmmm normal..I don't think so I like to think I'm a little wacky and colorful and dearing but normal ..I don't think so...I may have been thought to be normal to a goth, I guess. Maybe because I didn't have black hair and pasty white skin.
Oh and FYI I'm not running marathons I run Ultra marathons..Thank you very much :-)
well in any case I am me. I reinvented myself to fit in with who I am now. And I am happy with the new and improved me.
I did a lot of soul searching to find out who I am and what I want. I am far from perfect and am always learning new lessons in life.
And the biggest lesson is to be happy with who I have become.

Thank you Facebook for allow all these wonderful friends to find me and to see who I really am.

REACH OUT............
The purpose of life . . . is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.
Eleanor Roosevelt
Here are just a few pictures from the Grand Canyon. I will write my story and post pictures of my 18 hour 48 mile adventure.
The Grand Canyon was awesome.
It was actually the very first place I ever ran on trails 12 years ago. Yep, that's were I first put my feet on dirt and ran to Phantom and back to Indian gardens and slept on the ground. Yep, the first place I over camped out on the ground at to. That place is special and didn't realize until I saw it again.

I fell all over in love again with it's beauty. I have now promised myself to go back each year and run R2R2R. I will never forget this place again. I had buried so deep in the back of my mind but once I saw it again all the beautiful memories came back.
Enjoy these pictures I will post more and write my story soon.

PATIENCE....
Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they will then be powerless to vex your mind.
Leonardo da Vinci
Well here is a cool picture of my next adventure. The Grand Canyon. I went there in 1997 so it has been a while. I ran to the bottom camped and ran back up the next day. I have been wanting to do the R2R2R for a few years and now finally I will run it.
First stop Sin City going to play some slots and run down the strip. If I win anything I will get a new tattoo :-)
It takes me forever to pack. I am packed but I will repack tonight after work. I have to be to work at 7am tomorrow then we fly out at 4:45pm woo hoo.
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend.

Next Friday I'm heading to Yosemite again so if anyone wants to run Half Dome let me know.

JUST TRY................
You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try.
Beverly Sills
Ok so the metcon WOD trashed me yesterday. I checked the blog this morning and it was a rest day so I thought good.
I woke up at 4:30am with my right ulna the one that I broke on El Cap climbing in 03.
It was killing me, I have a plate and seven screws and it was really hurting
. I took two advil and went back to sleep
I woke up and decided to run 9 miles but I ended up adding a wod to it.
It's called the AGE WOD. You do your age in squats then run a mile and repeat each mile. I did 44 ever mile for 9 miles. My legs are like jello.
Good training for the Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim of the Grand Canyon this weekend.
Go ahead and try the wod it's fun.

HIGHER LEVEL.....................
Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.
Oprah Winfrey
Half Dome trip Friday. We had a blast there were tons of peeps up there. I saw Al who works at my Whole Foods and the following day I worked the Rock N roll half marathon expo. and a guy who was up there saw me to. What a small world.
The weather was perfect , Fall is for sure here. That crisp clean cool air and the smell of the pine trees and dogwoods get my mind races back to Falls past in the Valley. Some of the best years of my life were spent in Yosemite in the Fall.
I really love Yosemite and feel so at peace and connected to this place when I am here.
I plan on making two more trips before the snow comes.
Joe, Me and Jerry made it up Half Dome Mylinh's fears got the best of her. She has been up before and we all decided next time to bring some cord and a harness so she feels safe.
Awesome views as always at the top.
Next up for me is the Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim of the Grand Canyon, I leave Thursday and am so looking forward to it. Well I better get ready for work.

POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE................
Having a positive mental attitude is asking how something can be done rather than saying it can’t be done.

Congratulations to all my graduating Get Fit students you guys are all awesome.
They raced a 5k for graduation that Whole Foods put on.
They all did great. You are all winners. They loved all the goodies thanks to Whole Foods, MOEBEN and Zombierunners. They loved their gifts.
Notice they all wore their MOEBEN sleeves.
After the 5k my happy group that I teach every Tuesday and Wed. rest up gang class starts again on Oct. 14th I promise to make it harder. :-)
