ROCKY RACCOON 100 miler. I felt trashed from the get go of this one. But hey that's ok I took it nice and easy, and knew that all my crossfit training would pay off in the end, when I became sore and tired. I finished in 25:21. I am totally pleased with my time. The volunteers were amazing they took care of me and were so friendly. I was happy to meet so many wonderful people out there who follow my blog. All of you were so kind and sweet.
Extra special thanks to jlynnbob who gave me that great massage in the wee hours of the morning. I fell earlier in the day and my back was tweaked. It was so bad I couldn't carry my handheld flashlight.
Also Andy Kumeda who sent me some positive texts and let me vent since I didn't have a pacer at 1am, thanks for listening. And my niece Tiffany who always calls at the oddest times and can talk my ear off. I am growing fonder these days of using my cell phone as my pacer, and life line in 100's. I just call a friend when I'm having issues during a race.
3 RR 100's down 2 more to go so I
can get one of those cool 500 miler jackets. Also congrats. are in order for my friend Jerry Roninger at 62 years young he ran his first 100 miler under 28 hours. Just goes to show your never to old to run 100 miles.

Me at the finish. Right when I crossed the finishline I saw this volunteer with a crossfit jacket on so of course us fellow crossfitters gotta talk about WODS.
Joe the RD and me. Thanks Joe for putting on a great event.
The glazed over look of a happy hundred mile finisher.
Yep, it's the next day after Rocky Raccoon 100 and I gotta get my crossfit on. My feet and legs are trashed, so I am doing the sub rope climbs.
Yep, me doing double unders. I can do 8 in a row now...WOO HOO...

All is evolution, all is cyclical, therefore endings lead to new beginnings. You cannot begin without an end. If you cannot let go of the past then the past constantly recreates itself. Look now to the future and the paths to your goals will again become clear. Obstacles or limitations will be surmounted and lost or forgotten opportunities will again be presented. Success is now within your grasp but realise that to maximise that success new ways, or new methods, could make life so much easier. © Stephen Haynes

Well done on another 100! Sounds like a rough one, but you're back in the gym so must be feeling good :) I'm kicking off my ultra season with a 50k this weekend, then my first 100 in April!

I volunteered at the race and noticed your cool tattoos (I like the star ones down your legs) and when I mentioned it to someone, he told me your name and your blog. What a great job you did! I like how you have transformed yourself.

Well done! I guess it is all cross training for the PCT, right?? Me, I like to sit on my duff after 25 hours of activity and eat sweet potato fries.

Way to go Catra! Awesome finish for being trashed from the start. And to be able to head back to crossfit the next day...well, simply amazing!

Pass my HUGE congrats on to Jerry. It is about time he did a 100. How did he like it...or, better question, how does he like it now in retrospect?

Hi Catra, nice job, saw you out there on the trail, I finished right behind you. Something about that trail, I played it completely wrong: ran a swell 100k time, unfortunately, there were 40 more miles to go :-) Live and learn!

Congrats Catra. I enjoyed chatting with you the short time we ran RR together. Thank you so much for the words of positive support. For me, it was not to be (ended up DNF'ing at 80 thanks to my sorry excuses for legs). Hope to see you at another ultra soon.

Geez, Catra, a big tattoo leaves me trashed for three days. How the heck do you do this? You're so tough. Tough as nails an beautiful.
I try to be tough, but if I tried to be beautiful, well, we won't go there.
Congrats on a finishing RR100 again.

Alan-
You did the best you could, it wasn't you couldn't run 100 miles, you were kicking my ass and passing with the hobble leg drag thing you were doing. I'm amazed you were able to push so far with all that pain. I could tell you were hurting.
It was awesome meeting you and chatting with you.
BTW love the tights. They made me smile when I saw you in them.
one more thing I have a great sports massage guy that I go to in San Jose. He's a drive for you but he is wonderful. He has fixed me up between lots of hundreds.
He is amazing. I can give you his info. email me at catrarunner@yahoo.com
I'm going to him today.

Hey, My buddy Kyle Amos (18:14) ran RR100 too. In his race report he said he saw his first "texter" during a race. That must've been you huh? Nice Job!

Catra said...

Hey Shane-
LOL....I'm sure it was me. He lapped me as I was texting and I said it was my pacer since I didn't have one I just use my friends and text or call them.
Hey tell him congrats.
