Skyline 5ok course checkers. Andy and I got to check and remark the course in a few sections. We had a blast we did a 10 mile loop.
The weather was perfect. Congrats. to Mikey Palmer and Jenny Ray RD's they did an awesome job. It was fun to help out this was my first ultra in 98 wow. It feels like yesterday. I still am so surprised at what I have done through the years. Never thought I would of become the Ultrarunner that I have become.
It really is because of all the wonderful people in the sport. My friends have really encouraged me to go for it. They are the best.

I am looking forward to seeing some of you Saturday at Headland Hundred. This will be my 6th 100 of the year and my 58th 100 mile run.
I will take off for the Woman's unsupported speed record on the JMT on August 15th, will try to finish in under 6 days.
Life is to short to sit around ;)

Will you be starting the JMT from Yosemite or Whitney? My wife and I are great fans of yours. I'll be heading north from whitney on Aug 13, shooting for 6 days but don't have a lot of confidence in pulling it off. Hope to see you.

Hey Art-
I decided to do this kinda last minute. So I don't have a permit and want to start on the 15th. So I will show up in Yosemite early Thursday the 14th to get my permit to start at Happy isles. Hey we will be heading towards each other. You can't miss me. I will be going North to South finish on Whitney.
Hope to see you.

You are such an inspiration! How do you do it??? How do you have the energy for so many miles? How did you progress from "trail runner" to "ultra runner'? I am a "trail runner" hoping to eventually progress to longer distances, if my body can hold up.
Keep up the awesome work!
Kathleen :-)

Hi Super Girl,

Good luck on the record! I know you can kick it hard. 6 days 6 hrs and 53 mins will be a piece of cake for you to beat.

Lots of love to you.
Be safe. Go fast!

I don't know if I've ever commented on your blog Catra, but I am a frequent reader. I am training for my first 50 miler (Sunmart) and possibly 100 at Rocky in Feb 2009.

I saw you this past Feb at Rocky and have been following you ever since.

I am in awe of your determination and your strength. I am praying I can make just 1 hundred miler, to think 6? Or 58? Incredible!

Jackie-
Congrats. on your Badwater finish. You are truly a super Mom and a beautiful one at that.
I wish I had someone like you to join me on this record would be fun to get it it with another woman. You know it's the hard way to go North to South. That was my 5 day 15 hour way. I know going South to North would be easier but to get a permit is a pain. I hope I can get one when I show up in Yosemite on the 14th.
Hey maybe next year we can take on a trail together somewhere. Maybe go after mine and Linda's TRT record 72 hours. We could break it no problem.
I hope to see you on the trails.
Love you lot's you are truly an amazing woman.
I will try to break your record but 4 days after a hundred might not be the best time to do it. But it is the only time i can go.
I will make sure to have fun that's important.
We need to run together sometime since we live kinda close.
Love ya lot's,
Catra

Hey Catra,

It would be a gas to go fast packing together (and train/run with you). Hans is going to be in New Guinea and then the kids start school. He won't be back until after 9/6. So, I am flying solo with the kids until then.

I prefer the N to S way. It is so fun to have that gorgeous carrot, Mt. Whitney, waiting for you at the end of a mega beautiful trail!
Are you going to do it self contained? I think that is more "climber" style and a lot less fuss. I would love to go play in the outdoors with you. You have a strong "fun drive".
I am kinda pondering the ultrarunning versus climbing thing right now. I LOVE climbing but I just don't seem to have the time to climb at the competency I once used to. But I am a lazy type ultrarunner. I like the adventure of gently traveling super far on foot. How crazy!!! : )
Let me know how things go. I will be rooting for ya!
Let's keep in touch on email.
I am not so great on the blog stuff. : )
Love,
Jacki
