Images from Bighorn 100. I promise I will write my race report soon. I am still so amazed at the beauty in the Bighorn mountains.

I'm sorry to all you runners who were planning on running WST 100 this weekend. It's a bummer the race was canceled but it was for the safety of the runners , volunteers and crews. The trail will be there waiting for you all next year.

Hi catra! I'm wondering about the arrangements of ultra competitions i us... Do you run all the time or do you carry tent, food etc with you?
In the northest part of sweden we have an ultra challenge in the mountains, and everybody carries their own backpacks along the steep trail (about 2-4 kilo luggage if you compete, up to 15 kilo if you just walk). All in all the trail is 110 kilometers, about 70 miles. The fastest runner did the distance in 13 hours last year, but for others, who walk the whole time, the distance can take 4 days... =)

Yeah, WS100 will be waiting next year...but I can only imagine all the pent-up frustration of those who have trained long and hard for that event (not to mention having to be a 2-time loser for the lottery to get in) is going to turn a few into what I equate to - A Viagra-induced, 16-year old boy visiting the Playboy Mansion on trampoline night. Someone is going to explode in a horrible mess and I definately don't want to be in the blast zone of that!

Beautiful pics-- this plus Hardrock have become my "5 years or less" dream runs...like if everything goes according to plan. Nice run though...

Hi Mary these aren't staged race's they give you so many hours and there are cutoffs. This race gave you 34 hours to finish. You run/hike as fast as you can to the finish.

We don't really have to many staged races in the US. I did Marathon des Sables in Morocco and it was a 150 mile staged race through the dessert it was 6 days.
Thanks for stopping by.
