Dream As If You Will Live Forever
Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.

I am packed..This is my house on my back. I will live out of this pack for 6 days. I have done this many times. Last year was the first time since 2001 that I didn't take off on an adventure with my pack.I guess after living on the trail 94 days in 07 I needed a break.
My pack willweigh 15 lbs when I start. It weighs 17 right now gotta tweak a few things. I will head to Yosemite Thursday at 2am to be at the permit office before 7:30 when they open so I can make sure I get a permit to start Friday. If all goes well I will start around 5am
Should be to the top of Whitney Thursday before 5am. I hope the weather is good. If it is and my body is recovered from TRT 100 I believe I can do it in under 6 days. Please send me positive vibes. I will be going for the woman's unsupported record. So I have to be solo no friends along. I will have a friend meet me on top of Whitney since that is the actually finish point.
Keep me in your thoughts.
Catra
ReplyDeleteBest of luck, you're one tough trail Diva.
JMT snow report for passes :
I was on the JMT July 16-17 north of Forester for a training hike. This is what people said.
Donahue (as of 7-16) - some snow didn't sound like a big deal.
Silver - ?? - probably melted out
Seldon - ?? - probably melted out
Muir (as of 7-16) - reports of up to 3-4 miles of consolidated snow but well tracked
Mather (as of 7-16) - some snow but nobody said it was a big deal.
Pinchot (as of 7-17) - snow free
Glen (as of 7-17) - mostly snow free, 300 ft with tracks
Forester (as of 7-16) - up to a 1/2 mile snow on north side, but a report on Whitney message board dated 7-20 said a crew was shoveling snow off the trail for the pack mules.
Whitney Summit - spotty snow

Thanks Art I was ready the message board. I figure Muir is the one that's always bad. But sounds like it should be melted out. The bugs I'm sure will be bad ;-)
