a day and a night together. I had so much fun with him. He bailed on me at the Vermilion resort juntion.
:(I met so many cool people on the trail this year.
People ask me all the time arn't you afraid out there alone? NO! I feel so much safer out in the Wilderness than I do in the city.
Even when hanging out with complete strangers. People on the trail have a trust and respect for each other. I only get good vibes from every person I have met in the Sierras.

Hello Catra-
Your story is an amazing one, here's an anecdote...I was the TA for Coach Bufkin's PE classes in '1980-82 and could not get you to run a SINGLE lap around the old Eggers field track. ;-)
I was a few minutes behind you on the way up MP yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.
I enjoy reading about your adventures.
See ya around.
Hey Squirrel-
LOL your right! I hated running. Who would of ever thought I would become an Ultrarunner??? No me.
I couldn't even run 1 lap around the track back then.
You were behind me yesterday?? I ran to Sunol and back 20 miles.
Hey SN-
How do you remember me?? I didn't go by Catra in High School.
I'm glad you enjoy reading about my adventures.
Catra
Hello again Catra-
I knew both your father & brother a bit from youth soccer, then later I was a Noah's salted bagel addict for a time. ;-)
You were just getting rolling Thursday as I pulled into the parking lot. I just do 1min/1min run/hike intervals up MP as fast as I can (to the outhouse), been doing so for several years from the OC trailhead, this is the first summer I've tried from Stanford...it's much more challenging. Then I just scramble back down. Anyways I was a couple switchbacks behind when you took off on the Meadow.
See ya around.
Hey SN-
WOW you even knew my Dad and my brother Jay?
Make sure to say hi to me when you see me again.
Yes the Stanford side is a lot more challenging that's why I love it!
Do you ever hike in Sunol?? It's beautiful there.
I'm runnning out of Sunol tomorrow with my running friends.
Have an awesome day.
Cheers,
Catra
Hi Catra,
I had a great time too. You were one of those people I just felt an instant connection with. We had a lot in common. I could feel your energy. It wasn't an easy decision for me to turn at VVR. Good luck with your upcoming 100's and please give Rocky a hug for me ;)
And thank you for just being.....you.
Catra-
I knew your brother as 'JJ' and remember your father always looked cool in his soccer ball hat. ;-)
I occasionally day hike and/or run Sunol, usually up Indian Joe Trail and then loop around by Little Yosemite. I also really like Big Basin in the Santa Cruz Mtns, and have gone there often.
See ya around.
